I really enjoyed this book by Steve Martini. This is he first book by this author I have read. It is a mixture of mystery, legal stuff with a touch of humour that was really well done. if you want a legal thriller that is not too heavy, I would recommend this. I will be reading more of this author.

Couldn't put this down. The author moves from the Scottish west coast to Gippsland in her ancestors footsteps. She skillfully evokes the scenery and atmosphere of both environments to try to understand the calamitous first settlement tragedy embedded in her family history. Her path to reconciliation is deeply personal and well told.

I really enjoyed the author's humour and honesty. It was a well structured story, swapping between his earlier life story to the 2013 events with his father. I got so used to his beautiful voice too. Highly recommended.

Snippets of Jovan’s poetry juxtaposed with Dr Graffito’s verse shadows the lack of understanding and miscommunication prevalent in the alien world of suburban Melbourne. Jovan and Suzanah struggle to save their marriage while building new lives for themselves. Sometimes humourous, sometimes frustrating, but intriguing as the identity of the elusive Dr Graffito unfolds.

Beautifully written, narrated by Silver, interspersed with diary entries from Ishtar. Silver grows up neglected by her mother, largely self-sufficient but when the opportunity arises to meet her hitherto unknown aunt, she grabs the chance for a less chaotic view of the world. Her journey is full of hope.

I was engrossed by this book, absolutely had to keep reading each chapter to know what would happen to each character. In this frightening tale of domestic violence, Kim Lock captures the experience of abuse and manipulation, exposing the utter terror and shame of a victim and the pieces that those left behind have to pick up in order to make sense of it all. It's a troubling read about the ramifications of domestic violence with an unpredictable twist in the end.

This is the first novel I have read by Cecelia Ahern and it is different to what I thought it would be like. It is not an "easy read" and I felt it wasn't a book that could be read in big chunks. I sorted of ploughed through it but at the end it all came together and, after finishing, felt it was a good read. I would recommend it but it is at times a bit slow going. It has no genre but it is quite thought provoking.

I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about what it means to be Indigenous in Australia today. It’s Stan. He writes with insight, knowledge and passion. He s writes of issues that are difficult for white Australians to grasp and of underlying racist attitudes we do not want to believe. An easy read with lots of personal reflection that gives some insight into what it means to be Indigenous in our country. He speaks with passion and authority about the experience of many Indigenous Australians in the past and present This book should be compulsory reading for every Australian.

Bad intentions / Karin Fossum ; translated from the Norwegian by Charlotte Barslund.

Bad intentions is the first Scandinavian crime novel I have read and it was quite enjoyable. It is short and to the point but doesn't really leave you hanging about who did it anywhere throughout the book. This novel doesn't belong in the mystery genre, it is definitely a crime/police novel. I do wonder if anything is lost in the translation but will definitely try another Scandinavian author, just not straight away.
